April 2023 Honoree
Richard Jones, RN
I would like to acknowledge this nurse for the compassionate care they provided to a 92-year-old woman who passed away in the ER. They took exceptional care of her leading up to her death, and she had no family or friends with her as she was dying. They prepared the room in a thoughtful and respectful way, covered her with her own blanket, and then sat beside her as she died. This woman was dropped off by EMS and was here without family or friends. She did not die alone because this nurse saw it as their responsibility to see to it that someone was with her when she died. Their tears demonstrated their sincerity. I believe this nursing care is exceptional and demonstrates the best of who we are and what we do in the ER.
Thank you, Richard, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
