I was not a witness to the scenario, but I had heard about it and thought, "Wow! Now that's a true hero right there." Rick showed people what it was like to be selfless and compassionate. People like Rick do not come around that often, especially in this day and age where you could potentially catch something you cannot cure; so, therefore, he put a young child before himself. That in itself is truly amazing!
To give some background for this nomination: Rick Novak gave rescue breaths to a child who was not breathing. As the writer said, he was selfless and determined to save this child.
