Several orthopedic patients have requested to continue their post-joint replacement therapies in their homes rather than inpatient rehabilitation. Richard has helped and assisted each of these families and patients with truly compassionate care.
Richard goes above and beyond the call of duty every day. When his colleagues are on leave, he covers for multiple others. He treats every patient and their families with the utmost respect, dignity, and honor—he definitely lives by the Golden Rule.
Most recently, Richard has overseen several difficult disposition issues. A patient from another state was visiting and sustained an ankle fracture. Richard assisted the family and the patient by presenting several options for returning to his home state to have his surgical needs addressed at the facility of his choice.

Most recently, there have been new challenges getting patients to the nursing home unit in a timely manner, including patients with equipment that must be inspected prior to transfer, Richard has jumped through many hoops to make this happen expeditiously. He has made many phone calls to several departments to make training and other issues happen.
Overall, Richard is a very effective communicator and advocate for all his patients - and those of his colleagues. He is very deserving of a DAISY Award for providing Blue Ribbon Care to our Veterans.
