Our daughter came to the adult step down after a minor trach replacement surgery. She is on a ketogenic diet and on many seizure meds. With this diet, she cannot have any sugar, or it throws her off and she tends to have seizures. The pharmacy decided to change one of her medications from pill form to liquid, I always question this type of change because typically the liquid form has sugar.
So, I asked Richelle to ask the pharmacy if the liquid form had sugar, they told her "no". I don't think she was really confident in that answer; she looked up the ingredients and found that one of them either had sugar in it or didn't work well with the ketogenic diet. She made the pharmacy aware of this. So, they changed the medication to pill form.
