I am honored to nominate the Richmond Stroke Champions committee for DAISY award recognition as the best team for their outstanding commitment to patient care, community education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The team exemplifies excellence through their proactive, nurse-led initiatives focused on stroke awareness and prevention. By organizing impactful outreach programs such as community stroke education events, they have significantly improved public knowledge of stroke warning signs (BEFAST), risk factors, and the importance of rapid response. Their efforts reflect the critical message that "time is brain", helping empower individuals and families to act quickly and potentially save lives. The team put significant effort into educating staff, patients, and family members about stroke.
