February 2026 Honoree
Rick Ausbun, RN
My husband was admitted to the ICU after a cardiac arrest from undergoing a biopsy. When I arrived at the ICU, there was concern for my husband, and things were not looking well. Rick took over my husband's care shortly after arriving in the ICU. His compassion and attention to detail were unmatched.
In a very chaotic and scary situation, Rick was our calm. He not only took care of his patient, but he also took the time to make sure I was ok. His patience and kindness were just a motion, but he was truly sincere. He made sure we were well informed at all times, that all tests were completed, oral care, turning, and that we had everything we needed. His dedication to his patients is an asset to this entire organization.
As a nurse myself, I know the challenges we can face every day. He was never too busy, he was never rushed, even though I know how busy he was. My husband recovered so well, and I know it was because of the incredible care he received.
