My patient was an extremely difficult stick and combative as well due to a developmental delay. Rick came to draw my labs and established an instant friendship. This patient had a history of being highly anxious with lab draws and IV starts. But Rick found out my patient loved the Beatles and started to sing Beatles songs to him for the lab draw. It worked! He relaxed and we made it through with no complications. Rick sang throughout the procedure. It was awesome and I was very impressed at how easily he handled the situation. Instead of restraining the patient and making everyone tense, it was not such a bad experience. Thank you!
