As an employee at FGH, we all strive to exhibit our WE CARE Values. My 10-year-old niece was brought to ER by her parents due to a blood glucose of 457. They were blown away by the exceptional care delivered by the FGH ER, especially Ricky. Even though he wasn’t her primary nurse he exhibited all the WE Care Values while providing them care.

During her time in the ER, he showed them compassion, constantly communicated with them, and updated them regarding her plan of care. When drawing blood, he eased her nervousness by talking to her about the doll she had brought with her. He asked her questions about the doll including what was its name. He was reassuring everyone when UMC sent an ambulance for transportation to the Children’s hospital.

Lastly, he showed empathy when she asked about eating something because she was hungry. He got permission from the ER doctor for food, and after finding out she LOVED Chick-fil-la, he personally went and bought her some grilled chicken nuggets, and that made her day! Thank you Ricky for going above and beyond for my niece and her family during a very scary life-altering time for them.
