Rita floated to 7E and it was her first time on the unit. One of the patients was having trouble being placed and was homeless, but Rita recognized it was the patient’s birthday and inquired with dietary if they could make something special for the patient. They were not able to accommodate this so Rita spent her own money to buy popcorn and made him a card. Despite a busy day for this employee, she made the care of the patient a priority and made him feel special.
