The patient was quite anxious, and Rita walked the patient through slowing his breathing down so she could consult with a doctor.
This was a 36 y/o male calling with mid chest pain rating it 6-7/10, he stated it was heavy and tight, has SOB, dizzy, sweaty, and clammy since the night before. At 10:30 the night before he closed his eyes and felt like he kind of blacked out. He stated his father passed from an MI at the age of 38 and his grandmother at the age of 37. The patient was quite anxious, and Rita walked the patient through slowing his breathing down so she could consult with a doctor. She consulted a CCMD, gave an accurate SBAR and the CCMD advised ED now. Rita returned to the patient and advised ED now, with a driver, rather than waiting for his fiancé to return home in 30 minutes. The patient arrived at the ED at 4:00 pm with a myriad of symptoms. An IV was started, an EKG was performed, labs were drawn. He was found to be tachycardic, febrile, and had body aches. All tests were normal, but the ED MD diagnosed the patient with a URI and advised him to stay in the ED until the Covid test was back. The patient eloped prior to the Covid test results were returned, however, he was advised to quarantine during the ED MD’s conversation prior to the elopement. The Covid test came back negative.
