Rita Lugo, RN, BSN, OCN

A patient came in for his infusion but was having sciatic pain, unrelated to his visit here. When the patient is having this pain, he likes to lie flat on a hard surface. Rita retrieved a firm stretcher from PACU. Rita also reached out to PT and retrieved a hydrocollator pad. Rita also advocated to the oncologist and got his pain management visit moved up sooner, and was able to get a steroid prescription for the patient to help over the weekend.

Rita also assisted with changing the frequency of his gabapentin and managing his blood pressure meds for the weekend after leaving our center. Rita went above and beyond not only to ensure this patient was comfortable during his long outpatient visit but also over the weekend until his follow-up appointments.
