A critical patient presented to the ED and was diagnosed with a STEMI. The STEMI activation process was initiated and the patient was prepared for the next steps in his care. Rita Price, RN was assisting with this patient's care and was asked by the patient to express his thoughts and feelings to his loved ones if the outcome of his treatment was not optimal. Unfortunately, the patient passed away and Rita followed through on her word and reached out to his family members to communicate his wishes. Rita's compassion and empathy exemplify how associates make an impact on patients and families lives daily. Rita served as a true advocate and patient's voice when they were unable.
