This nomination was made for repeated excellence in providing thoughtful care to our behavioral health patients. In addition to being a great team player by providing physical and emotional support to her co-workers, Ritchel repeatedly demonstrates compassionate care to our patients in acute psychiatric distress. She has a way of intervening in a calm and reassuring manner when the patients are escalating which is invaluable in helping to keep the patient and the BHU safe.
Multiple reports have come from her co-workers sharing of times when a patient, who likely would have escalated to a point where chemical or behavioral restraint was necessary, have instead been calmed or redirected with Ritchel's care. In our world of Behavioral Health Care, this is huge. The impact of Ritchel's nursing interventions are meaningful in the lives of these patients who often deal with discrimination and the stigma of mental illness. She inserts compassion and care, helping her patients to feel a degree of dignity and respect while dealing with the difficulties of their mental health crisis that have led them to come to us for treatment.
