Riza Pangilinan, Registered Nurse
I am honored to nominate Nurse Riza, an exceptional nurse in the Emergency Department, whose clinical excellence, emotional strength, and compassion under pressure truly define the spirit of nursing.
I chose to nominate her because I have personally witnessed her extraordinary performance during a Code Blue situation—one of the most critical and stressful moments in the Emergency Department. During this emergency, the environment was intense, time was critical, and every second mattered. She responded immediately with remarkable confidence and precision. She remained calm, focused, and fully in control, performing her role efficiently while supporting the entire resuscitation team.
What made this moment unforgettable was not only her technical skill, but her leadership and humanity. While actively managing the emergency, she communicated clearly with the team, anticipated needs without being asked, and ensured that patient care remained coordinated and effective. Even in such a life-threatening situation, she maintained professionalism and composure that inspired confidence in everyone around her.
After the Code Blue, she did not simply move on to the next task. She took time to ensure the patient was stabilized, supported colleagues who were emotionally affected, and demonstrated deep respect for the seriousness of the moment. Her ability to balance clinical expertise with empathy is rare and remarkable.
I have consistently seen her go beyond her responsibilities. She supports her colleagues, guides others with patience, and upholds the highest standards of care—even during exhaustion and pressure. Her presence strengthens the Emergency Department and sets an example of what an exceptional nurse should be.
Nurse Riza does not seek recognition, yet she continually delivers excellence with humility, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
