June 2025 Honoree
Rizaly Bernardo, BSN, RN
We have been on the transplant unit for over a month. My wife has been dealing with a long year of recurrent complications, among other issues. Riza Bernardo would always take time to make us feel better. On a very pivotal day, my wife panicked, and Riza took it upon herself to come into our room ( even though she wasn't our nurse that day). Riza importantly heard my wife’s fears and concerns. She made my wife and I feel better less scared. Needless to say, we had the courage to proceed, but more importantly, felt heard and felt the love from Riza.
Obviously, this is a way more complicated story than I can write on here. Also ,this message doesn't highlight the other incredible things Riza did in our healthcare stay. And all the emotions and respect and love she shows us. We want to repay Riza and the team anyway we can. We are family for life thanks to her and her team. It's also worth mentioning that Riza has been doing this for over 15 years, closer to 20.
Thank you, Riza, I can never repay you.
