A patient had an "elf on the shelf" sitting on the sharps box. The Director of Nursing talked to her about the elf and found out she named it "RJ"; she said it was after her favorite night shift nurse. She went on to explain how compassionate he was and how he took care of her and made her feel special. He always made sure she was comfortable and out of pain. She knew if he was her nurse she would be well taken care of on his shift.
