Robert's indelible impact as a leader is felt by all those fortunate enough to work with him, and we hope he feels the weight of our gratitude and admiration for him.
I am nominating Robert on behalf of myself and many of the staff members who work with him. Staff on every shift that crosses his path regularly are quoted saying, “I trust him,” that they feel “comfortable with him,” and “enjoy working with him.” His contributions to the psychological safety of his team are matched only by his wealth of clinical experience and knowledge.
He is an invaluable resource to staff nurses and other leaders alike, being as generous with his help as he is with his unending supply of dad jokes. As a mentor, he leads by example, inspiring me to be the authentic, compassionate leader fitting for a profession such as ours. For our staff, he inspires patient-centered, empathic care by modeling it himself and demonstrating that he is, without exception, respectful and kind to every patient and family member he encounters.
Beyond all he does for his team, he is a steadfast advocate for all our patients. This was recently exemplified by a wedding ceremony he helped arrange on 3South, which allowed a patient who was too medically unstable to leave his room, the opportunity to give away his granddaughter’s hand in marriage. While the family expressed copious thanks, I knew this was only one of countless examples just like this. His indelible impact as a leader is felt by all those fortunate enough to work with him, and we hope he feels the weight of our gratitude and admiration for him.
