March 2018 Honoree
robert jordan, RN
The first impression a new nursing employee gets of the hospital unit is the Preceptor. If that relationship does not go well, this can lead to a new employee not completing orientation or a shortened stay with the hospital. I had the privilege of having Rob as my Preceptor. I appreciated how thorough yet calm he was, with a positive attitude throughout the challenges. His patience is a great asset. He took the time to explain policies and ensured that I understood. He was always available to answer questions. When I spoke with other nurses he was Preceptor for during orientation, I got the same response from all of them. I believe with Preceptors like him, a high retention rate is reachable. As many new nurses and employees as possible should have the opportunity to be mentored by Rob.
Thank you, Robert, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
