Bob is a very knowledgeable nurse. He is an excellent person to orient new staff. He is very helpful in explaining new policies and procedures to anyone with a question. He remains calm under pressure, helping anyone who has an emergent situation with a patient. He is often able to de-escalate angry patients. Bob is the go-to person for difficult IV access patients. We have had several patients over the years who request him by name. He helps other nurses with patient care, such as, turning a patient or putting a patient to bed.
***
I agree with everything above, in addition, Bob has helped me a lot since I began working here at the VA. He is a very patient person.
***
When Bob is working the unit as a charge nurse the unit seems to run smoothly and efficiently. As a nurse, Bob is the go-to person for anything to do with spinal cord injury patients. Bob has over 20 years as a Spinal Cord Injury nurse and helps all the staff anytime they need help.
***
As the other nurses have stated, Bob is a true asset and savior to the SCI-E unit. I have been on the SCI unit for over 11 years and Bob has helped me with so many things. He is a compassionate nurse and is always quick to respond in an emergency situation. Bob is calm and brings a sense of peacefulness to the unit when he is in charge. He handles situations with other staff members in a professional calm manner. Overall, he is a true team player and a true DAISY Nurse.
***
Bob is very experienced and always there to help staff. Bob is always willing to help no matter what kind of night we are having.
***
Of all of the nurses in the SCI unit, I see Bob as a leader, he is always willing to help anyone, he doesn't complain and he looks out for those who work with him. God Bless Bob!
***
Bob Laursen has been a true mentor and natural leader amongst the SCI team. Upon my arrival to this unit, he was the one to mentor me and as an RN on the team I could not have had a better mentor to work alongside me. His willingness to jump in and help, his openness and acceptance allows staff to be comfortable with asking him questions without fear of judgment.
***
Bob is always ready to help anyone who asks and it is a pleasure to work with him.
