Rob is able to counsel patients in an incredibly honest, sincere, and non-judgmental manner.
Rob is the background of the medications for opioid use disorder program at the jail. With his dedication, we have gradually been able to expand the program from serving a handful of patients to nearly 20% of the jail patients at any given time who have opioid use disorder. He has compassion for a group of patients that are often marginalized and experience in correctional healthcare is an asset to efficient and patient-centered care. Rob has been an integral part of expanding offerings to patients from buprenorphine to methadone along with naloxone. Rob is able to counsel patients in an incredibly honest, sincere, and non-judgmental manner. He brings humility to the care he provides and recognizes the importance of the potential interventions we have to save lives of our community members while they are in jail. Rob is continually conscientious of the safety of patients beginning buprenorphine and will even get more information, if needed, to ensure that safe administration of medications will occur without risk for precipitated withdrawal. He has an intimate knowledge of the complexities of the criminal justice system given his years of experience in correctional nursing and is able to synthesize the legal information and clinical information available to create a patient-centered care plan in collaboration with jail health services providers.
