Robert (Nick) Pearse consistently went above and beyond in caring for my father during his stay in the Neuro Trauma ICU. He explained all aspects of my father's care to me, including complex aspects of drug selection and interactions, processes, and ventilator settings. His explanations helped me to develop a working knowledge of many complex aspects of my father's injuries, which helped me to be a good advocate and decision maker for my Dad - especially when the time came to make the difficult decision to switch to comfort care.Throughout this tough period of time, Nick was a frequent pick me up to my family. He served as my father's nurse at least 4 times and even when he wasn't his nurse, he would come by to check in and say hi. He was compassionate in caring for my father and for us as he always had time during his busy shifts for a kind word or quick conversation to make us feel at ease.
