My friend’s family arrived from different states and were equally distraught, yet Robert helped ease their concerns due to his excellent knowledge, care, and concern.
My friend was admitted to the Neuro ICU after being seen in the ER for severe headaches and vomiting. She received news after a routine CT that her lung cancer had spread to her brain. This news was devastating and very difficult to process. The following day, the body CT showed more devastating results, her cancer had spread everywhere, too many places to list. To say that we were all in shock, is an understatement. Robert made sure to follow through on requests without being asked twice or being reminded. He followed up on things and made things happen. One time in particular, I asked him if I could take my friend outside for fresh air and sunshine. He took the time to walk her around the floor to be sure she was steady and up for the task. Robert decided that a wheelchair was needed and called the doctor on call to get one ordered. Not only that, but the chair arrived in a timely manner without having to make the request again. Pain medication is given as needed/requested, however, my friend would often fall asleep and get behind the pain. I asked Robert if he would keep track of when she took pain meds and automatically give her more every 3 hours. Robert did so, without reminding, which made my friend more comfortable. Robert met my friend’s family when they arrived and followed up with the staff conducting the family meeting. His actions helped me feel comfortable going home and sleeping at night. My friend’s family arrived from different states and were equally distraught, yet Robert helped ease their concerns due to his excellent knowledge, care, and concern. We had other good nurses, but Robert was great, he went above and beyond and I couldn't be more happy to recommend him for this award.
