I have seen the rapport Mr. Shimonov establishes with patients and how smoothly things can go.
I want to recognize Mr. Shimonov for his leadership, commitment, work ethic, and utilizing evidenced-based nursing to truly stand out amongst his peers; that has inspired me and given me the boost that I need in our daily patient exposures. Working at a correctional setting is extremely nerve-racking and stressful; especially surrounded by patients who are severely disadvantaged and have mental incapacities in addition to staff shortages. Many of these patients decline a lot of the services which the Registered Nurses provide which adds to these patients' detriment. Mr. Shimonov finds ways to gather nurses together and combined with his abilities to communicate with patients is the reason that so many of them proceed with their orders to get the necessary treatment done. I personally experienced this when he called me and another nurse over into his treatment area of the PACE unit and I saw his unique interaction with patients. I have seen the rapport he establishes with patients and how smoothly things can go. When many of the orders that were left undone for weeks because of patient refusals and were truly necessary; appropriate treatments resulted from his caring and dedicated nature to care for his patients. I truly felt more enlightened, encouraged, and accomplished at the end of that day. He always has an open hand to help. As a nurse of many years I am glad that I have the ability to learn from him and work with him. He definitely stands out in his profession as a Registered Nurse.
