May 2016 Honoree
roberta mann, RN, BSN, Manager
Roberta Mann took care of an endoscopy patient who experienced nausea, vomiting, and pain post procedure. Symptoms were out of proportion to what is expected after a colonoscopy. Roberta was diligent with informing me (Anesthesiologist), the surgeon who performed the procedure, and the admitting physician of her status. She had a clinical sense that the patient had a severe problem and ensured that the patient was sent to ICU from Endoscopy rather than to the floor. Subsequently, the patient was found to need surgical intervention emergently.
Roberta's diligence, concern, clinical sense, and persistence was the key component to the patient's problem being recognized and treated appropriately.
