Roberta's skill set, confidence, and ability to communicate hospital terms and techniques have given my husband and me a calming peace while at SVE.
A few times in my life, I have had the privilege of meeting people who had a calling for the particular profession they have chosen for their career. You can easily discern those who had a calling versus those who didn't. Those with a calling exhibit a special spirit within that project outwardly to those they come in contact with. While one can certainly be trained for their profession and build upon those blocks to encourage confidence on a daily basis, that skill set is second to the calling. Those rare individuals who are blessed with training, confidence, and calling are a treasured resource that can cultivate future staff by teaching and mentoring them.
My husband was admitted to the ED with a stroke. He was admitted to the 5th floor and has been there for 10 days. During this time, we have been truly blessed with the staff of 5 East. We have had an opportunity to interact with many of the team and leadership and they are all fabulous, but there is one nurse that has truly stood apart. Roberta's skill set, confidence, and ability to communicate hospital terms and techniques have given my husband and me a calming peace while at SVE.
As you know, a family member being admitted to the hospital can be stressful during the best of times, especially during COVID, but this particular nurse has found a way to make this hospital stay both easy and calming for us. We are also thankful for her personality and a great sense of humor. Humor really is the best medicine! Our family is so very thankful to SVE for recruiting and retaining such incredible staff and we are most especially thankful that Roberta was chosen to be one of my husband's nurses during this time. Thank you, Roberta! Our family appreciates everything you do!
