Robin Baldwin was the nurse taking care of a younger patient with terminal cancer. Her daughter is about to graduate from high school in the next few weeks and the patient will likely not be able to see her graduate. Robin and the managers of MICU coordinated a mock graduation to be held in MICU so that her mother could see her in her cap and gown and receive her diploma.
The staff from the high school and several students came to show support and love. The patient and her daughter were extremely grateful to Robin and I could tell that the patient, as well as other family members, had become very close to Robin while she had been taking care of her. Robin even came in on her day off to take part in this graduation and help to bathe and dress the patient before the ceremony took place. I cannot say enough about how heartwarming this was to see, and Robin deserves so much more than just recognition for her unbelievably big heart and kindness.
