If I did not understand how to do something one way, she showed me another until I understood. I could tell that she loved teaching and loved passing on her extensive nursing knowledge.
Robin was everything that I could ask for as a preceptor. She was patient with me and worked through problems in real-time. Robin was flexible with my school schedule. Most importantly, Robin believes in my ability to be a great nurse someday. I think that is what makes a preceptor great: the power to believe in their students, and that is what she did exactly, she believed in me. Before Robin, I was terrified to be a nurse. But I know that I will always have her, that I can go to with any questions or problems, and I know she will help me no matter what. Through my capstone with her, I got a preceptor for life. I know that this was a random match; however, I received a preceptor for life, and not many nursing students can say that.
Robin is a DAISY Nurse because she not only supported me through my journey but also supported her patients through theirs. She also took so much of her time to make sure that I understood everything she was doing and allowed me to practice. If I did not understand how to do something one way, she showed me another until I understood. I could tell that she loved teaching and loved passing on her extensive nursing knowledge. For example, one time, a clinical group was with us, including me, she had three students, and she just loved it. Not many nurses would be happy about having three students. As we worked together, she would also tell me that if there was something I needed to do differently or work on, we would work on it right then and there, and we did. Robin is a great person and an even better teacher. God really knew what he was doing when he paired us two together. I cannot wait to go back to Dupont to be supported more by her. She is really someone who every nursing student should be taught by.
