June 2016 Honoree
robin franzen, RN
Robin and her team saved my life 25 years ago; I had severe necrotizing fasciitis in the stomach region and I was deemed terminal. With the care of the doctors at this facility and in particular the nursing staff which Robin was active in, however, I survived. I now have a thriving life, a partner, and am in the third year of a master's degree program thanks to Robin. I recently wanted to pay it forward and contact Robin and had an amazing conversation filling her in on my life and who I grew up to become. When I informed my mother that I had spoken to Robin, she cried the moment I mentioned Robin's name. She repeated many times "that special woman saved your life and we owe her everything".
So, 25 years later I would like to nominate Robin, because without her, I wouldn't be the person I am today and I wouldn't have the life that I cherish now. I know it is a little late, but Robin deserves every award in the book because she is the reason that I will celebrate my birthday in July, acquire my master's degree, and marry the love of my life.

Thank you, Robin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
