She has built a core team and staff who take ownership of building excellence in patient care, whether that be captured in a tracked metric or in a new program.
Robin is a wonderful example of nursing professionalism and practice. Throughout her career she has participated in podium presentations at the national level, has and continues to assist with research collection data, is a certified ortho nurse, promotes certification with her staff, and is a member of NAON who attends congress frequently and supports this professional organization.

Robin is a patient advocate and takes very personally the experience of each patient on the JRC as if they were staying in her home.  During the pandemic when staffing was so difficult and patient satisfaction percentages fell for reasons out of her control, Robin continued to encourage her staff to stay positive and to make each patient feel confident they had chosen the right place for their joint replacement surgery and recovery.

The orthopedic surgeons of the JRC have rarely had to navigate the administrative organizational chart to seek for data or process approvals for Joint Commission certification because Robin has been their advocate.

Robin has led her team to achieve numerous accolades, including the team's most recent achievements of having no hospital-acquired infections for 2022 and being recertified for advanced total hip and total knee certifications while also achieving core shoulder certification.

On top of leading the team through numerous certification achievements, she has been instrumental in developing patient education material for DePaul’s total joint population. This education has been spread and utilized throughout the region. The pre-operative and discharge readiness classes that she has helped to develop are also a best practice.

Robin also is the point person in the region for new orthopedic leaders. Many directors reach out to Robin and ask if their new manager can spend some time with her in hopes that they develop relationships and glean some knowledge from her vast experiences.

Robin has taken ownership of the Joint Commission certification process since 2007 when the Joint Replacement Center opened and became the first hospital unit in the state of Missouri to gain JC certification in 2009. Her memory is irreplaceable for all the details that need attention throughout the certification cycle and at recertification time.  Robin has been the administrative mainstay of the certification program. She has built a core team and staff who take ownership of building excellence in patient care, whether that be captured in a tracked metric or in a new program.  She helped to build a process improvement team and a multidisciplinary committee that continues to meet on a monthly basis, in spite of the administrative changes in her reporting leadership.   Robin always is the one who checks and double checks against her checklist that all pieces of a certification are ready.  Technological advancements during the past 15 years have changed how reporting is done, but the foundational understanding of what is involved in maintaining standards of certification was established by Robin and continues to be the bedrock on which all staff are trained.

Robin is tireless at survey time, coming in at 5 am many mornings to ensure that staff files are up to date, trainings have been completed, signage is up to date, documentation is complete, presentation materials are complete and professional, and the unit is spotless on physical examination.

Robin is a fierce advocate for her staff, to be recognized for their work ethic in a different patient care model than most units.

Robin is well-loved by her staff and has one of the most loyal, veteran teams of any unit in the hospital.

Some people will wonder if they made a difference throughout their life in. Robin does not have to worry about that. She has impacted her staff and thousands upon thousands of patients throughout her career. She is truly exceptional!
