There are very few times people leave the hospital with a smile on their face. When we came to CAMC it was with worry and concern for our father/father-in-law and when we leave the hospital if we will still have those concerns. While we were here, we had an outstanding nurse. I noticed Robin the first time she spoke to Dad. She would hold his hand and make eye contact with him while speaking with him. She always cheerfully answered our questions so that we understood the answer, many times explaining past or initial concerns. Her voice was always calming to Dad and Mom explaining what she was doing for Dad so Mom would be at ease.
I spoke to a friend about her and they made the statement, "They always put the cream of the crop in ICU." And so, I thought to myself that no statement could be truer than about Robin. Talking to other nurses I could tell they had great respect for her.
We will be leaving CAMC today to take Dad to Hospice and we are saddened to be losing him soon, but we will smile when we remember how he would light up every time Robin walked into his room and the comfort she brought to him. I have no doubt my father's heart will smile when he leaves CAMC knowing he has a new addition to our family.
Note: This is Robin's 2nd DAISY Award!
