We recently cared for a patient who was quite challenging to take care of and had a very difficult family member. The patient also had neurogenic bladder from uncontrolled diabetes and needed to be educated on how to straight cath herself. The patient was known to the urology clinic and had missed multiple follow up appointments. Robin not only took the time to explain the patient's medical conditions to the patient and her family but also provided very diligent education to the patient.
By the time of discharge the patient was able to straight cath herself without difficulty. If it hadn't been for Robin taking the time to provide the patient with the necessary education the patient may have had a prolonged hospital stay and unnecessary hospital re-admissions.
The same patient wrote "Thank you for taking such great care of me. You deserve much praise for your wonderful work. You lifted me up with your hand and cared for me. I pray God will bless you and your family. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being there for me. You are a great nurse! You took care of my every need. I will always miss you in my heart! You are a wonderful person!"
The experience this patient had with Robin as her RN is just one example of the care that Robin provides. She always looks for opportunities to provide patient's with education to improve their hospital stay. Thank you, Robin for providing such passionate care to our patients.
