On my first day with Robin, she talked to me and we walked several laps around the unit. It left me in better spirits since I wasn’t happy about being in the hospital during the summer as a teenager. Robin took me outside to the garden and the hospital gift shop, which made all the difference. We shared many laughs. One day, my feeding tube was clogged and she spent over an hour trying to unclog it so I wouldn’t have to undergo another tube placement procedure. Small things like that make all the difference when you are stuck in the hospital. Robin made me feel excited for the days she was coming in and was someone to look forward to, which is so important for mental and emotional well-being in the hospital. Our conversations about Taylor Swift and guessing which department a stranger worked in were so much fun. She really deserves this award!
