I am honored to recognize Robin Strickland for her compassionate, selfless act. Recently, Robin was caring for a newly diagnosed cancer patient. The patient was just learning about the severity of her illness and was very overwhelmed, mentally and physically. After spending time with that patient, Robin learned that her mobility level had already started to decline.

Robin went out of her way and gave the patient a cane, not just any cane, but the one that she had personally used during her own recovery from a significant injury. That cane had supported Robin through her own healing, and she chose to pass it on to someone whose need was greater. This act went beyond clinical care. It was a moment of pure kindness. I have worked with Robin for many shifts and continue to see these acts of kindness again and again.

Robin's actions embody the true spirit of nursing. She is a true example of what it means to lead with heart.
