I was so appreciative to have Robin as my nurse for two days as I came to the hospital unexpectedly. I went to the Heart Health Screening, had an EKG, was told to go directly to the ER as I had a heart block and needed a pacemaker.
Robin is so caring, loving, focused and kind. She made me feel like she could not have cared more for me if I was her mother. She explained and drew pictures of the heart, the conduction, the nodes, electrical conduction system, how my heart system was not synchronized and googled articles and emailed them to me, as I was overwhelmed with the details. She explained terms so I could understand the essential details, so I understood why I suddenly needed a pacemaker. I had no clue! I was supposed to 'run' the 5K today at the Borgess Marathon. I had walked the 5K for the past three years. Robin told me that when I get my pacemaker tomorrow I will see a surge of energy and next year, I will run and do exceptionally well! She treated both her assistants with kindness and respect, just as she treats her patients. This morning, Robin greeted me and said, "Hello sunshine!" I thought that was beautiful! She told me she is not working tomorrow when I get my pacemaker, but she will be thinking of me and knows I will do well!
So, thank you, Robin, for choosing nursing as a profession; may you be well so you may continue to help, heal and love your patients!
In addition, Robin just called to say I am being transferred to a private room as I did not sleep all night with the lady in the next bed. I asked if one was available. She went the extra mile to make this happen!
