Robyn insisted the surgeon come immediately. The surgeon assessed and the wheels were in motion to transfer this patient as a precaution for potential return to surgery. During this time Robyn remained calm.
Robyn joined surgery in August 2019. During her time with Morgan, she has demonstrated excellence, team, compassion, and purpose.
Since becoming an outpatient facility, we have had one patient who required transfer to a higher level of care. Robyn circulated this case and followed the patient to recovery. Immediately she realized this patient needed the surgeon to assess post-op bleeding. Robyn insisted the surgeon come immediately. The surgeon assessed and the wheels were in motion to transfer this patient as a precaution for potential return to surgery.
During this time Robyn remained calm. She cared for the patient cleaning up both the patient and the area during this time when multiple things were happening. She had a reassuring touch and smile for her patient and the team.
Recently we were notified our GI clinic staff would be vacating. While behind the scenes leadership was looking for the best way to proceed with this position, I volunteered our peri-operative nurses to cover in the interim. This was new and stressful to our team with work and family obligations.
Robyn came to me suggesting she cover the GI clinic functions as she had previous office experience. She expressed she wanted this on an interim basis only. Explaining with her doing this, it would decrease stress on our team and provide consistency with patients and providers.
When I approached the team about Robyn's offer, they were greatly relieved as well as one team member offering to back up Robyn. They have since developed a system and plan that is providing excellent care to our patients. It is also relieving additional stress to SIP trying to cover a position that they had absorbed but not budgeted for.
Robyn also talked to the three providers getting them to decide on consistent times for procedures while allowing turn over and limiting potential gaps. This will make a big difference in scheduling and rescheduling procedures.
During this time Robyn has remained positive and again always with a smile. Her experience, calming presence, and nature make her a pleasure to work with.
