I have worked with Liezl for approximately 4 years as her supervising physician. During these years, I have seen many instances of her kindness and compassion for patients. One recent interaction sticks out in my mind. The patient came to the outpatient clinic with severe ear pain and infection. He was very loud and angry and used much profanity during the initial interaction with Liezl. Over the course of this outpatient visit, the patient became calm. When Liezl brought me to see the patient, the patient remained calm and proceeded to tell me about Liezl’s compassionate care for him. He stated that Liezl listened to him and took all of his concerns seriously, which helped him calm down. When the visit was over, the patient was so grateful for having been taken care of by such a great nurse. With Liezl's compassion and kindness, she was able to transform this angry patient into a grateful patient.
