While all the nurses I have met during my stay here have been amazing, RJ stood out to me as truly extraordinary from the moment I entered the unit needing a sudden appendectomy to the two nights post-surgery that I happened to be under his care. He has made me feel calm, taken care of, and completely knowledgeable about my situation and what I could expect next. He has an easy sense of humor, took an extra bit of time to talk about and calm me down when the news wasn't ideal, and his positive attitude was easily contagious. When I mentioned being woken up often taking a toll, he was able to sync up my medications and vitals so that I was able to be woken up a couple times less and get a longer time to relax. Even just me walking the hallways for laps, he asked immediately if there was anything I needed or that he could do. The worst (or smelliest) jobs he did with a smile every time and never made it awkward or allowed me to think it was. He allowed me time to cover up when pumping, and little things like that just made a tough time so much easier. He checked other units for me when I realized I was missing a pump part. Overall, I just wanted to reiterate to him that his compassion and kindness really made a difference for me and, I'm sure, countless other patients. Your optimism was exceptional. You seem truly dedicated to every patient's happiness. Thank you so much for all that you do!
