Through Rola's gentle attitude and reassuring words, she built a genuine relationship with my child, earning his trust and easing his apprehensions. She patiently addressed his inquiries, allayed his worries, and encouraged him to feel in control of his own medical treatment.
As a mother whose child was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma in 2019, our treatment journey at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) has been filled with both challenges and moments of deep appreciation. I thus would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the whole team at this oncology center for their respect and professionalism. In this nomination, I would like to express my gratitude to "Rola," a committed and incredibly helpful nurse who looked after my son during this journey and stood out as a symbol of compassion and exceptional care. She is a dedicated and remarkably cooperative nurse.
Since the first day at KHCC, Rola has shown an unrelenting dedication to my child's emotional comfort and trust. My child's frequent need for blood extractions was one of the toughest times. He would get tense and afraid at the mere thinking of needles. Nevertheless, Rola addressed this task with such empathy and sensitivity that she was able to transform what could have been a difficult experience into a moment of reassurance and trust.
Rola spent the necessary time to comprehend my child's fears and worries. She saw him as more than simply a patient; he was a special person with unique needs and concerns. Through her gentle attitude and reassuring words, she built a genuine relationship with my child, earning his trust and easing his apprehensions. She patiently addressed his inquiries, allayed his worries, and encouraged him to feel in control of his own medical treatment.
Rola's tireless commitment to going above and beyond for her patients is what really makes her stand out. She constantly found time, despite the demands of her role, to make sure that my child's blood sample was taken quickly and painlessly. She made our son feel comfortable and at ease despite being terrified and worried. These behaviors can appear straightforward and uncomplicated, yet they reveal the depth of compassionate care that Rola is keen to provide to her patients. Her commitment to the safety and comfort of her patients is visible in every interaction, demonstrating her remarkable efforts to her role as a pediatric oncology nurse.
In nominating Rola for the DAISY Award recognition, I am not only expressing my profound gratitude for her compassionate care but also recognizing the positive impact she has had on our family's life. She embodies all the qualities that make a true nurse: compassionate, dedicated, and truly extraordinary.
Thank you, Rola, for your commitment to excellence and for being a source of support during our treatment journey.
