How do you express compassionate care in words? What may be something so simple and “no big deal” to some can mean a world of difference to another. Compassionate care beyond measure is what we received during my husband’s last couple of days of life. This was the hardest to write. When my husband was ready to call it, Ron clearly explained the procedure and what to expect. One of the most touching and heartwarming things was when he walked in with the Hershey Bar with Almonds. He knew what that meant to him and shared that it was 702 in the candy machine because it was Ron's favorite, too. With his assistance, I could give him a couple of bites of the chocolate, and he was extremely happy. Ron started the procedure, and he stayed pain-free and stress-free. He knew the kids had to come from Clearwater and Tallahassee, Florida, and cared enough to check their progress getting home. When they arrived, Ron again explained to them what to expect. I don’t know if Ron will ever know how much it meant to my daughter to be able to spend her daddy’s last hour of his life with him because of his care and concern. Ron, my family can’t express enough gratitude for your care and compassion. You definitely provided compassionate care beyond measure. Thank you.
