I want to send a big Kudos out to Rosa from CSO who helped us out last night. She had the patient that recently transferred to us from 14W. The patient's daughter drove in from Ohio last night and was able to visit with the patient for a few hours. The patient had to go for a CT scan, so when we left, her daughter left as well. The patient ended up coding on her way back from CT and died.
Her daughter came back, and Rosa was so comforting and kind. She had paint and paintbrushes in her locker and helped make handprints with the daughter and let her talk about her mother. Rosa took the initiative to call the gyne/onc team that had been caring for the patient on 14W and the doctor came down to talk with her daughter since this is the first time the daughter had been able to visit.
Later the 14W nurses came down to pay respects and visit with the daughter as well. The daughter was so happy to meet the team that had been caring for her mother and who she had talked to on the phone for days. It was such a group effort to reassure the daughter how well her mother was cared for and Rosa did an amazing job coordinating it all. She taught me how to be a better nurse and we were so lucky to have her on our team last night.
I have never been prouder and more honored to be a part of this incredible team!
