The time Rosa spent with me, helping me, was one of the most beautiful experiences in my lifetime.
I was admitted to the Christian Hospital Oncology unit from the ED with a kidney infection/UTI for 6 nights. Rosa was the first nurse taking care of me for the first 3 nights. I came in quite ill, bordering on Sepsis, frightened and exhausted. Rosa took care of me with grace, skill, and compassion beyond my wildest expectations. All the rest of the staff were excellent as well, but Rosa stood out to me by going above and beyond to provide adequate medication for pain control when the initial meds were ineffective.

After explaining my situation to Rosa, she took it upon herself to contact the hospitalist for something more helpful. After a conversation with Rosa about my medical condition, which requires monthly inpatient hospitalizations for IV antibiotics, monthly infusions, and certain pre-meds for about 15 years, not to mention Common Variable Immune Deficiency and cancer involving chemotherapy in the last 18 months, Rosa's soothing words and her hand on my shoulder were as good as any medicine to calm my stress and quickly see through my issues like a light at the end of the tunnel coming into focus. The time Rosa spent with me, helping me, was one of the most beautiful experiences in my lifetime. Especially when taking into consideration how busy a Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse is with many patients on an Oncology floor. Reaching out and helping one patient in distress, as she did with me, was nothing short of a miracle. Rosa is a credit to her profession, and I'm sure blessings will follow her throughout her life as she has blessed and helped others, expecting nothing in return. In this difficult world in which we live, it was an honor to meet and benefit from someone like Rosa, who we wish we could be.
