I would like to nominate Rosa Razo from Surg-Tele for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional nursing care, compassion, and dedication. Rosa is detail-oriented, making sure that physician orders are correct and executed in a timely manner. She ensures quality and safety measures are in place, such as SCDs and bed alarms. She helps the unit meet quality goals by completing weekly Fall Audits. Rosa is proactive in mobilizing her patients to ensure the Move to Heal standards are met, preventing deconditioning and giving her patients the best chance to return to their normal activities. She has embraced the role of the Charge Nurse, ensuring that assignments are made with safety in mind and that admissions are placed fairly among the team. She has recently started to precept and has received excellent feedback on the quality of her teaching. Her orientees feel well-prepared to work independently on the unit and are comfortable seeking out guidance from Rosa. She works as a team with her PCNA, providing excellent care throughout her shift. Rosa’s patients compliment her attention to detail and anticipation of their needs. One of her patients provided feedback about her kindness- explaining that she felt Rosa really cared about how she was feeling, went out of her way with small gestures like pillows and warm blankets, and made her feel like she mattered. Rosa always asks the patients what else she can do to make them comfortable before leaving the room. Rosa truly cares about her patients, encouraging them to participate in care and making sure they have the education they need to be successful after discharge.
