I witnessed how kind and respectful Ros was, treating him with kindness and empathy at all times
I would like to nominate Rosalind Fyfe for a DAISY Award for the way she goes above and beyond the requirements of her job to care for patients and their families.

For the past several years as our friend was undergoing treatments for his advanced cancer, he often commented to us about how much he appreciated all the RNs and the PCTs who helped care for him at Grayslake and Lake Forest Infusion Centers - but most often he talked about Ros.

I witnessed how kind and respectful Ros was, treating him with kindness and empathy at all times of his cancer journey. Ros always made sure that it was okay with him if a new nurse learned or watched how to flush a special pump that he had for chemo delivered directly to his liver. He was proud to offer "show and tell" to the nurses on this special device he lived with.

When he entered hospice, Ros organized a card to be signed by the unit members - who all wrote kind sentiments in a beautiful card that his family and friends will cherish, always. Ros delivered it personally to him in hospice - unfortunately he slept through her visit. Her presence positively impacted his friends in the room. He would have smiled broadly had he known she was there.

Weeks after my friend passed away, I saw Ros sitting outside the infusion center, gently speaking with another male, there by himself. I imagined him to be a patient, facing a new diagnosis alone, with Ros gently explaining to him the gravity of his situation and that she was on his team for his care going forward. No matter what the conversation was, it was clear she cared. It made my heart swell with pride for the kind of nurse that Ros is, not only for my friend, but for all patients going through treatments at the Lake Forest Outpatient Infusion Center. Thank you, Ros and team.
