I'm writing this nomination as both a TCH employee and a TCH patient. I struggled with pregnancy losses and infertility for quite some time before I got pregnant through IVF at our Family Fertility Center. When it came time to deliver I had to have a C-section because my adorable but stubborn daughter was breech. One of the biggest blessings of that process was having Rosalinda as my periop nurse for my C-section! I arrived early and anxious. Rosalinda came into my pre-op room and immediately calmed my nerves. I was trying to hide the nervousness behind laughter but she saw through it. She asked a few questions to understand my fears. Then she educated me on a few things but then went a step further and shared her own C-section experiences. As a nurse, we often know too much and it was calming to talk about that with her. She also told me to pick a Pandora station for the OR - that was the most stressful decision of the day! More to come on that. In the operating room, I was a mess! Again trying to be brave but as I got my epidural the tears started to come. Rosalinda stood in front of me and hugged me while they inserted my epidural. She was a calm voice in my head validating my feelings and also reassuring me. Later when my husband came in she showed him the same expertise and compassion. He is 100% NOT medical and she altered her approach to ensure he also had all of his needs met. Now back to that Pandora station. I couldn't decide so my husband picked the artist who sings our wedding first dance song. Rosalinda asked why we picked that station and my husband told her about our first dance song. Later in the operating room, Rosalinda and the rest of the OR team made sure our wedding song was playing just as they delivered my daughter! I could not contain myself! I am so grateful to Rosalinda. As an employee I want every patient to have the same feeling I felt in Rosalinda's care. She is a treasure and deserves all the recognition we can give her!
