Rosanna Senadrin has played a crucial role in patient care during the pandemic. Rosanna took it upon herself to allow families to be able to see their loved ones virtually on top of all her responsibilities as a nurse. COVID-19 has taken a toll on all of us, patients, their families, and healthcare workers. During the height of the pandemic, visitation was halted. Families could not see their loved ones in the hospital due to the pandemic. This was detrimental to patient care and the healing process as research has shown that bedside visitation promoted health and well-being. The measures taken to halt visitation deprived patients of the best care. Rossana would don her PPE gown, masks, goggles, and eye protection to enter patients’ rooms and assist them with reaching their families via FaceTime. Rosanna would stay in the room, being exposed to COVID-19 the entire duration of the FaceTime call. One night in particular, Rossana was in the room with a patient, trying to connect them with their family. The next time Rosanna came into the room, the patient was in respiratory distress. After a few hours, the patient passed away. The patient’s family was thankful to Rossana for allowing them to see their loved ones one more time before their passing. This family is forever thankful to Rosanna for allowing them to create a last memory of their loved one.
