I am nominating Rose for the DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care. Rose is a remarkable nurse who consistently provides outstanding care to every patient she encounters. She truly lives by the golden rule—treating others as she would want to be treated—and it is evident in every interaction.
Rose embodies the mission of St. Cloud Hospital through the way she cares for others, treating every person with dignity and compassion—as if she were caring for Jesus himself. This belief is reflected in her gentle approach, her deep respect for patients and families, and the genuine love she brings to her work each day. She listens with empathy, responds with kindness, and delivers care with both skill and heart. Patients feel seen, heard, and valued in her care, and her coworkers deeply appreciate the support and reassurance she offers in the clinical setting.
Much like the daisy itself, Rose represents simplicity and humility in nursing. She does not seek recognition or praise; instead, she quietly and consistently shows up for others with a servant’s heart. Her selfless service brings comfort and reassurance to patients, their families, and her coworkers. Rose has a calming presence that brings peace, hope, and healing simply by being there.
Rose’s caregiving does not stop when she leaves the clinic. Outside of work, she selflessly cares for her mother, who is on hospice, and her husband, who has Parkinson’s disease, along with running the family farm and taking care of her many grandchildren. Despite these personal responsibilities, Rose continues to give generously of herself. Although she has retired, she fills in casually at the sleep center, supports providers at our outreach site, and steps in at the clinic as needed. Her strong work ethic and willingness to serve speak volumes about her character and dedication to nursing.
Rose exemplifies the heart of nursing and the DAISY Award. She is compassionate, selfless, and deeply committed to caring for others—patients, families, and colleagues alike. Our team is better because of her presence, and her impact is felt far beyond the clinic's walls. Rose is deeply deserving of this recognition, and she truly makes my life better.
