Rose Francke is an extraordinary nurse. She has so much knowledge and expertise. I feel lucky to have her on my team. I am able to continue to learn from her experience, as well as be able to watch her put her patients' needs first in all her interactions.
One example of Rose going above and beyond occurred last week during our gastroenterology clinic. Rose was able to sit with the patient and her family, listen to their concerns, and relay those concerns to the provider. This particular patient happens to be one of her former rehabilitation patients. She understood their frustration and bowel problems. She was able to educate the provider on the bowel program, which she was not aware of. She also went the extra mile to reach out to the rehab coordinator and was able to connect her and the family to provide some follow-up care. The family left very happy and had this to say about Rose, "Nurse Rose spoke to me and my daughter with a lot of respect and empathy and she gave me more input about my daughter's needs."
There have also been several other instances that Rose has been able to coordinate appointments with other specialty providers in the clinic. She does this by really listening to the family during her rooming process and collection of patient history. She understands how valuable her patients' time is and she works hard to be able to get them the care they need.
During an ENT clinic, she was able to set an infant up with an appointment for our GI provider on the same day. From this coordination, they were able to identify a problem with reflux. I believe that Rose is an exceptional nurse, and I am so proud that she is able to care for our families at Children's Hospital Northshore Center.
