Lamar University?s JoAnne Gay Dishman Department of Nursing honored faculty member Rose Harding of Beaumont with the first DAISY Faculty Award at the department?s first awards ceremony. An instructor of nursing and 13-year faculty member, Harding accepted the award at a March 21 program co-sponsored by Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. ?I am humbled to receive such a prestigious honor,? said Harding, who earned two degrees from Lamar ? a bachelor of science in nursing in 1996 and a master of science in nursing with a focus in administration in 2000. The award recipient is active in the department, the university and the community. Students and faculty in the department nominated faculty members for the DAISY Faculty Award. Other nominees are Nancy Blume, Caroline Heinz, Dianna Rivers and Valerie Talenda, Beaumont; LeAnn Chisholm, Orange; and Gina Hale, LaBelle.
