Rose always had a smile and a good attitude when she came into my room, and that really made me feel at ease.
I came to the emergency department with some serious problems and conditions. My neck was broken, and my small bowel was obstructed. I have a colostomy and a urostomy. I am not the easiest patient to take care of.
One night, I pressed my call button and told the person on the other end that my ostomies needed to be emptied. She said that she would tell my nurse and that she would be right there.
About two minutes later, Rose came in. She came in with a smile on her face and greeted me in a way that made me feel comfortable.
She knew what she was coming in to do, but she still came in with a smile and a great attitude. That first time really made me feel at ease. She knew exactly what to do and how to do it.
After she finished, we talked for a few minutes and the process did not seem so bad. She left to go get my meds. After meds she asked me if I needed another blanket, I said I did, and she got me one.
When she was going to leave my room, she asked me when the ostomies would need to be emptied again. I told her in about two hours. As she was leaving, she said she would be back in time. She was true to her word. I knew I could depend on her.
Rose always had a smile and a good attitude when she came into my room, and that really made me feel at ease.
There are many other things I could say, but I am sure you understand why I feel the way that I do.
Rose did her job and did it well. She is a credit to herself and to RI Hospital.
If I am back in the hospital again someday, I hope that Rose is the one taking care of me again. Rose is a perfect example of what nursing is about at Rhode Island Hospital.
