Nurse Rose came into my life after I stayed at Harlingen Medical Center.  I had been admitted due to my COPD and heart failure. After talking with the VA, Rose called me and explained about the Home Telemed reporting system. I did not really understand but she walked me through the process and made sure I had the equipment I needed. Nurse Lopez told me she would be working with my team, The Orange Team.  She would also be monitoring my progress.  She would do her job. What makes Nurse Rose deserving of this recognition is the way she does it.  She has always been and shown me a very respectful and caring side.  Always going above and beyond the standard.  She has always contacted me with slight issues that arise and has taken the time to follow up.  Always personable and compassionate.  She uses a very unique approach in dealing with my issues and has always kept my Orange Team [informed] of any situation that arises.  She goes way above her duties and places her patients above all else. 

I served 20 years on active duty, and I can say that I have rarely come across people who show care and compassion to the ones [they] serve. She does her job to the highest standard, and I am grateful she has played a pivotal role in my care and I personally feel she is a vital part of the VA core. She is an Extraordinary Nurse who embodies the core values of the VA system and is highly deserving of this award recognition. I don’t know how my health would be without her nurturing, kindness, and what she brings to the total care platform. She is an example for all to emulate. Thank you for allowing me to put her in for this award.  

She plays a vital role in my health maintenance plan. With my Orange Team and including Nurse Rose Lopez, they allow me to have a better quality of life.
